Middle Ground

It seems like there's no middle ground
from anywhere I look
just this and that no room for else
I'm different where I go

I met someone who said there was
a middle ground, indeed
he said that I was sensible
and had a well formed view

Why can't there be more people
who know and understand
that I'm not just one of these things
but choose to stand between?

I want to fit, want to belong
but always seem to clash
with other views, with other minds
there is no one like me.

I met someone who showed me
that there are people there
who know what middle ground really means
and for who it was designed.

I don't belong to just one world
so I'm not understood in either I choose
but only by people who live like me
in the centre of middle ground.
